Robert Schatzle, Baden-baden-Neuweir – still on the Riesling hunt 😁

After sampling the Trocken Reisling from Robert Schatzle, we went to visit the vineyard, well, the wine house, since it was local to our hotel. We did not have a full wine tasting experience, because of restrictions. Nonetheless, we still got to taste some darn good wines and yep, Germans make some darn good wines. With varied collection – riesling, pinot noir, pinit blanc, chardonay, chardonay blanc, bubbly and some of them award wining; phew it was really hard to choose.

We sampled all that was on offer – riesling, sext, grand cru! Trust the Germans to come through with their version of bubbly. I mean dang!I have to say though, the lessons learnt from Elan came in handy. We knew the classification of wines we were interested in so we were able to narrow it down but still … this is what we were working with people

tough call trust me

Just when we had finally decided on the wines we wanted, the lady of the house pulled one out of the bag and presented us with a special Riesling – Trauben; which is a ginger and grape reisling. It was delicious, carbonated and reminded me of a cross between a sect and prosecco.

After we had tasted all that we could (without getting too tipsy), still got to make it back to the hotel and get ready for din dins, we settled for resiling sekt, Goldenes loch grand cru, Riesling katzenellenbogen and of course the Riesling trauben.

Yep, Riesling hunt is still very much on!

Prost
