Nothing beats sunny skies, turquoise coloured sea and fantastic food! This is what you get at Primo. The view of the sea, the breeze; Mother nature definitely took her time when creating the Caribbean is all II am saying.

The oldies (Neal’s parents) have been wanting to try out Primo for a while and we were only too happy to tag along. I mean we are on holiday after all, plus, spending this time with them is necessary because LIFE! Primo, located in St Lawrence gap offers casual dining serving both Lunch and dinner. Interestingly, their menu offers ‘salads’, ‘to begin’ and ‘mains’. You lot know our rule of thumb, if there are a variety of ‘starters’ you are all but guaranteed that the food is going to be good. Well, Primo, proves this theory. The food is GOOOODT!
We all decided to not just have mains, considering the varied selection of plates to sample and sample we did. The avocado and mango salad with pine nuts and cranberries was the perfect way to start our lunch. I don’t think I need to state how fresh this was, because it was FRESH! The perfect balance of sweet, savoury and texture.

The fried spicy fish goujons accompanied with the herb aioli, siracha had the right amount of kick that made my Nigerian palate very happy! The seared shrimp drizzled with passion fruit beurre blanc was delicious as was the spiced crusted calamari peppered with black pepper, lemon aioli dipping sauce.. Like, the chef not playing with these starters okay. And the portion size? Generous to say the least!

We also sampled some items of the mains because why not? Plus, sea food does not get any fresher than here right? The parmesan crusted Barracuda served with whipped potatoes, buttered broccoli and double mustard cream was yummy. The potatoes whipped to perfection was creamy and light! The stack of ribs was braised beef short ribs marinated in garlic, extra virgin olive oil, rosemary was exactly what was expected – great portion size and the meat fell off the bone! Ughhh.. it was good! The carrot puree, fingerling potatoes, sweet onion jam and mushroom sauce gave it the extra oomph!

We definitely took our time with this food and actually enjoyed another bottle of Riesling before deciding on what to have for pudding.

I thought the small plates here were the golden egg, I was wrong! The pudding here? In particular, the chocolate sampler? Listen, I was not ready! I am not really a chocolate person per se, but this desert did what it was supposed to do. It gave what it was supposed to give, assignment UNDERSTOOD!. Once served, I could not wait to dive it. It was a mini feast – white chocolate panna cotta with berry compote, flourless.. yep, FLOURLESS chocolate cake, chocolate merengue topped with chocolate ice cream and chocolate pecan tart .. pheww!!!! Like I said a feast! It was a sinful delight… my goodness it was SCRUMPTIOUS!

On the real though, Garmanvsfood fam, when you go to Barbados, visit Primo and order the chocolate sampler. You’re welcome!
Cheers
