Helllooo from the Kingdom of Thailand, Bangkok to be precise! It is officially winter season and the temperature is a currently 30+ degrees😎. Yep, winter for them, perfect summer weather for us. We were delayed taking off from Ho Chin Minh city and I can’t help but compare our departure flights from Tokyo to Ho Chi Minh, Japanese efficiency is second to none! Thankfully, the flight from Ho chi Minh to Bangkok is less than 2 hours, so not too shattered.
How are you garmanvsfood family? It is 3 days to Christmas! You ready? Pressies all sorted? Stockings filled? ready for the final countdown of the year to relax, chill and be with loved ones? We can not wait to go on the food adventures we planned for Bangkok, they have been a long time coming, 12 months to be precise and we ready, or are we😒?
Din dins at Baan Khanita happened by chance. We decided to go for an evening walk to explore what was local to our hotel as well as find the restaurant Bo.lan (where we will be having Christmas dinner). We were not that hungry, but we were eager to taste the Thai cuisine and what an introduction it was. Now, as a FilipinoNigerian, I like to think I can handle my spice and spicy foods. However, Thai folks take spice to a whole another level😅!
The menu was filled with many options and it was quite hard deciphering and making a choice. Plus, on the first day / night, we just could not be asked. We both knew we wanted light bites and so in our true fashion, we sampled a few starters😆. Glad we did, because these starters were huge portions and frankly were more than just a light bite.
I also decided to try the fish and lemon soup. I recall the waitress asking me if I was sure? considering this was a spicy dish. I said to her, yes, I can do spicy but BOI! I was not ready for Thai spice you see 🤦♂️😅.This fish soup had a HELL of a KICK to it! It was hot (as in temperature) and HOT (in spice) and sooooo good!
