Tapisco happened a day after we had visited Local. What an adventure that was –the food was just fabulous. Anyway, it was a sunny afternoon in Lisbon, after being tourists for the day, we were hungry. Siesta, is not a ‘thing’ in Portugal per se, but on this particular day, we just could not find a place that was open. In hindsight, I think we decided to eat an hour that was probably late lunch hour, meaning lunch service was over and most places were prepping for dinner service. Making our way back to our hotel, Neal hangry and in a mood, we stumbled on Tapisco and all I am saying is alleluia!

We decided to check in on a whim and see if we could get some food, because manz hungry like! One time for Mafelda, our gracious hostess, who accommodated two very hungry tourists! She absolutely did us a solid especially as staff were changing shifts and prepping for dinner service! We were so darn hungry we really could not be asked to peruse the menu like we normally would. Again, the people of Tapisco came through, particularly Marcel, who despite on the verge of changing shifts and leaving for the day, talked us through the menu and gave us recommendations which were spot on!

As you probably guessed, the food is very much tapas (Portuguese) style of eating. Ha, of course we had croquets as well as tomato bread with Iberian cuts of meat, these went down a treat and calmed my already growling stomach. Did I mention we were hungry? Ha ha ha!

Other dishes included black paella with sepia and aioli, grilled vegetables, a prawn dish served in the best sauce! You know the sauce where you need bread to mop it up, yeah, that kind of sauce!  And duck served with grilled peppers… yummy!

The food was brilliant, the wine great and the service excellent! Obrigada!

Felicidades
