This is a thank you blog to Carl, the head chef at Fork and Cork. Why? Because he not only created and served amazing food, but, did so despite the kitchen closing 👏🏽 now if that ain’t customer service par excellence I don’t know what is. Now before you lot come for me with the ‘why did you get there so late’? well we didn’t….technically 🤷‍♂️ Back story for context yes?  During summer, the restaurant rarely had a lunch service, and getting a reservation was near impossible! So, when we found out about lunch service being available, we called for a booking and they were quite happy for us to come through despite the time! Chef Carl happily obliged our request for his ‘synopsis’ menu after we checked with (Nicole) who assured us that it was fine. So there you have it!

The synopsis menu is a surprise menu created by Chef Carl and his team and it was handled from jump. Do you see the butter that was served with the bread? yeah? exactly!

We kicked off with a beetroot tartlet, It was a burst of colour! Ouu it was gorgeous!  Local beetroot salad, chevre cheese royale, candied sesame seeds and fresh dill tips!

It was rich but yet, refreshingly light. All ingredients shone through both individually and collectively. It was so yummy! As was the twice baked feta cheese souffle — dang!

The mushroom- like soup gave me texture and creaminess, and the aroma from the risotto? OMD!!! It was creamy, flavourful from seafood, it was so good damn it! Apparently it is a customer favourite and generally on the ‘specials’ menu and honestly, I get why – it is a special risotto.

The beef and artichoke? one time for the artichoke..; looking like roasted potatoes and the sauce? delicious!

Pudding in this here restaurant? is a tall glass of sinful delight.

see what I mean?

It was a fruity, caramelised, nutty sweet goodness! It was S W E E T! like, really sweet and I found it a bit too much but it definitely was right up Neal’s alley ha! It was a tall glass of happiness for him😉. The petit fours was the icing on the cake, I lovvvvvveeeed the Michelin man plate.. too cuuutee!

Yes Chef Carl, you and your team served us some yummy food and we are ever so thankful.

Cheers

p.s. Massive s/o to Nicole and her team also, for being so gracious!
