Restaurant Story, London – A lunch time Story with Nnenne

It is 9 days into the new year, so I guess saying HAPPY NEW YEAR guys is still ok right?  Plus, it’s only been a few days since we returned from New York and I will never take British winter for granted, EVER! New York is COLD!!!!

I have been playing tour guide to my niece Nnenne. She made the trip from across the pond (America) to England for the first time on her own! She picked the perfect time because I am still off work and when I tell you we did everything she was allowed to do, I mean ERYTHANG!  From going to see Abba exhibition in South bank centre (yep, she is a heavy Abba fan and she 19) Promised to not tell too many people, ooops! We had cider in a gold ol’ British pub, to some random tent / tipi shindig (advertised on FB which some of her other university mates were going to), the British museum, Tate Modern. Yep, new year is off with a bang!

As luck would have it, Restaurant story were offering a lunch time menu, a rarity! So, as my special treat to Nnenne, decided to check it out. Having had their taster menu which was just EPIC! I was more than curious to see what the lunch time menu was going to be like and more importantly wanted Nnenne to experience fine dining! Yes, I am that cool auntie folks.

We tried the 6 course lunch taster menu and of course the storeo and fresh skin cracker (which tasted good as I remembered) made an appearance.

We had mushrooms, cheese, onions, and truffles on a wafer like crackling and it was the BUSINESS. Our mains consisted of risotto with truffles and in the words of Nnenne “this is the best risotto I have ever had” PERIODT!

The meat course was equally amazing, medium rare and tender and yet juicy with each bite. Dessert was almond and dill and the perfect way to end lunch! Yummy! Nnenne is a convert, she absolutely loved it .
